Recognized as the birthplace of porcelain, Zhejiang Province was known to have produced porcelain as early as the Eastern Han dynasty. During this period, the development of two key technologies of porcelain production: stamped pottery and primitive porcelains – firmly bestows on the province the honor of the technological foundation of the craft.

Zhejiang Province is a key producer of porcelain as well as home to outstanding kilns. Kilns including Yue Kiln, Ou Kiln, Wuzhou kiln, Deqing kilns, Southern Song Kiln, and Longquan have been renowned throughout history and around the world. Each preceding another to build on the legendary status of Zhejiang ceramics; and collectively, their highlights create an unprecedented and unmatched splendor in the world of porcelain.

Rivulets trickle ceaselessly through tortuous mountains in order to combine and form the strong currents of the famed Qiantang River. At the isthmus where the river meets the sea they become one with the vast East China Sea. The ancient pottery of Zhejiang Province is like her mother, the river – an embodiment of the spirit of innovation and steadfast dedication of people of Zhejiang.
