Traditional Craft Pottery

After 1990, the market for Taiwanese imitation wares shrank, and potters had to adapt to the new market environment. Their answer was to produce ornamental painted ceramics that retained the exquisite painting techniques of traditional official wares together with the concept of using symbolic elements to convey auspicious meanings. These were combined with a variety of ceramic techniques to create a new painted ceramic style that was innovative whilst retaining elements of tradition.
