Imitation Export Wares

During the 1970s and 1980s the production of ceramics replicating a wide range of ceramic types was a flourishing industry in Taiwan, and a variety of styles and designs, imitating wares from Chinese ceramics from various periods, to export trade wares, and to Japanese imari and satsuma wares, were produced to cater to both the domestic and foreign markets. All of these had to be thoroughly researched by the Taiwanese ceramicists before they were able to bring these styles to life once more.
