Early Pottery

Items of everyday use, such as bowls, plates, jars and urns, part of the early pottery culture of Taiwan, have an intimate connection to the lives of the people who lived during those times. They might not be of the same quality as official wares made on commission for the Emperor, nor are they curios and exquisite objects catering to the scholarly tastes of the educated elite. However, they do evoke images of the ordinary person, giving an idea of how they lived, and a glimpse into what living in Taiwan was like.
