2020 International COFFEE CUP Competition

:::
The Yingge Ceramics Museum holds Taiwan’s first International COFFEE CUP Competition at the time of the grand opening of the 2020 Taiwan Ceramics Biennale in the hope of expanding and exploring opportunities for functional ceramics as well as letting different ethnic groups and users to personally experience the charm of ceramic ware. Obviously, coffee cups are the focus of the competition. Coffee, for most people, is an indispensable drink in modern daily life. It is at your fingertips. It can boost your energy. It is the museum’s desire that coffee drinkers may find coffee cups both giving great aesthetic pleasure and fitting their drinking habits.

The competition attracts 221 entries from 21 countries. In the preliminary review, fifty-four entries are selected by five jurors who are highly prestigious in Taiwan’s ceramic industry. The original work of those 54 entries are reviewed in the final round of jury meeting. They are evaluated based on shape and aesthetics, and design concept. Their utilitarian value is also assessed and scored by coffee experts. At the end, one entry is selected as the First Prize and five, Merit Prizes.

The museum hopes that this competition may promote practical coffee cups for daily life. It hopes that the seed of aesthetics may begin to sprout in the small things in life, grow by degrees, and eventually fills every corner of life.
