Pottery Town (Gallery 202)

:::
The early modern period of the ceramic culture of Yingge began in the early 19th century with the development of the local pottery technology brought by the Han Chinese immigrants. In the early 20th century, the industry was transformed from a cottage industry to industrialization, and by the middle of the 20th century, a complete industrial chain was formed, reaching its peak at the end of the 20th century.

Today, Yingge has transformed itself from a chimney-lined industrial town into an international ceramic art town. Based on the theme of "Pottery Town" in Taiwanese Hokkien, this exhibition explores the opportunities for the development of the ceramics industry in Yingge from the perspective of human geography and presents the development of ceramics in Yingge over the past two hundred years from the perspective of production methods, business models, industrial products, and industrial transformation.
