The Achievement Award, Prof. Huan-Tang Chiu, was the first person to introduce Western creative concepts in ceramic art to Taiwan; he opened up the whole new realm of contemporary ceramics for Taiwan. His works are noted for their experimental quality and creativity, for their inspired blending of subject matter from literature and the environment, for not being constrained by materials and traditional concepts, for exhibiting freely creative ideas that always transcend the past.
