A Tale of Food and Tableware ─ Ceramics and Culture in Daily Lives
Ceramics can be considered one of the art forms that are closely related to our lives, especially when it comes to functional ware. A set of beautiful tableware can often make our meals more appetizing, this embodies the aesthetics of living. The imaginations that artists have towards the modern day dietary life style can mirror the various experiences of life. When we dissect our food culture, it is the food that stimulates the enjoyment of taste, moreover, extending boundaries to our visions, and eventually resulting in the need for aesthetics. Choices of food also reflect on our psychology, physiology, self-concept, class, belief and value.
This exhibition, A Tale of Food and Tableware, is an attempt to understand the history of relationship between food and vessels, the anthropology behind, and awareness of aesthetics. It also aims to represent the cultural fluidity and to awaken the human care for our environment and nature.
