  • The Taste-ware Relation
The Taiwanese place a great focus on the food culture; to eat well is very important, yet the development for food aesthetic has only became popular in recent years. Kitaōji Rosanjin, a Japanese restaurateur and ceramist, once said ''The ware is the clothes for food.'' Beautiful and functional ware increases the enjoyment of eating. The relationship between food and ware is also culturally diverse, when placed in the context of Taiwanese history. The Han Chinese and the indigenous peoples; Japanese and the people from the Fujian and Guangdong province; the diet from various areas in mainland China, and the development of globalization, all have changed the trends in food culture.
Tracing back to the beginning where traditional markets have always been the place to visit, we can see how our daily lives have bear the traces of the past.
