  • Manfredo BORSI
    Manfredo BORSI (1900-1967)
Born in Florence, Italy, on 15 February 1900.
1920, discovered ceramics with Nordström in Denmark.
From 1925 to 1948 in Paris, he practiced lithography, mural decoration and easel painting. In 1948, he relocates permanently to St-Paul-de-Vence, France, where he created ceramics. At the Giraud studio in Vallauris, he created dishes bearing decorative motifs that were stylized to differing degrees.
He participated in many exhibitions and received numerous awards.
Member of the International Academy of Ceramics, Geneva.

Numerous pieces in Museum Collections. An important twentieth century artist, he knew many of key figures of the art world, and worked with the most significant artists. For example, he exhibited in 1950 at the Palais de la Méditerranée, Nice, with Picasso, Léger, Chagall and Cocteau. Before arriving in St-Paul-de-Vence, his work was abstract. However, when confronted with the reality of the countryside, he returned to a more sensitive and figurative oeuvre; that was sometimes quite stylised.
