From reflection on robotic mass production and automation in Britain Arts and Crafts movement, Mingei movement in Japan, ceramic artists attempt to recall and promote the tradition, embodying the spirit of application and aesthetics in daily items. The response to such movements in ceramics field has laid a foundation of functional pottery out of arts and crafts as well as design, highlighting the beauty of materials in the inhabited space.
