    Anne Hirondelle
    Era:1995
    Dimensions:66X21.5X23.5cm
Most of Hirondelle's works are in the form of bottles or cans, and most of them have some connection with buildings or geometry. However, her personal aesthetic also attaches great importance tosofter, natural elements. Her interest in raku may derive from itsrandomly produced, natural beauty; the quality of the firing, whichcannot be predicted, complements the forms of the work, over whichshe does have control.

With most of Hirondelle's work, the design philosophy first becomesapparent in the drawings. After her pots have been thrown, differentcomponents are added to them. While her bottles and cans are producedin accordance with traditional concepts, she adds in late twentiethcentury design concepts, making her pieces bright, sharp and witha strong architectural feeling. Although some of her larger piecesare design purely for display, the vast majority combine aestheticappeal with practical functionality.
