  • Creating Heat Resistant Wares
“Producing ceramics requires the spirit of scientific experimentation and control over the process.” Boss Li Cheng-lin, who comes from a electronics background, got involved in ceramics out of interest, and started producing tea utensils in bulk in the 1980s with a fellow student. In 1986, they started selling heat-resistant pots, and through improvements to the materials they were using, and the establishment of a set production process, were able to maintain quality control. They participated in a Ministry of Economic Affairs initiative supporting small and medium sized enterprises within the traditional industry sector. This initiative helped them to produce better quality traditional cooking wares, for which they won much acclaim. “Making ceramics successfully isn’t something you can achieve overnight,” says Li. He is now training his son Li Shou-shan to carry on what he has started, in the hope that he will help create an even better future for ceramics in Yingge.
