  • Longquan Celadon Conical Bowl
This bowl has a wide opening, a straight sloping belly that creates a conical shape and a shallow small circular base. The body of the vessel
is solid and refined, covered in a green-grey glaze which is thin at the top of the bowl and thick at the bottom, clear and smooth and as green as jade, with clear signs that the glaze was applied on two separate occasions. Because of the relatively high iron content of the clay body, the dual oxidation processes turns the unglazed area of the base a vermillion color. Contrasted against the green glaze this adds an additional layer of aesthetic beauty to the piece.
