  • The Artistic Expression of Vessels
In the 1980s, modern ceramics began to flourish in Taiwan. Influenced by the development of western modern ceramics, many Taiwanese ceramics artists introduced these new ideas into their works.Combining excellent skill and rich imagination, they created new forms and innovative patterns. Often the function of the vessel was completely ignored, but the fun of looking for new forms and meanings is closely connected to individual artistic creativity.

1.Artistic Ideas about Form of Vessel
Many ceramics artists who originally worked in traditional ceramics became interested in developing their own artistic styles. For example, they built vessels emphasizing the sculptural aspects or strove to reveal particular individual artistic concerns in their works.

2.Exploration of Vessel Inner and Outer Space
Many ceramics artists presented works that were the results of exploring the spatial aspects and ramifi cations of the exploration. The extended meanings were particularly discussed.

3.Vessels as Carriers of Narratives and Ideas
The types and styles of vessels are legion, and the images and stylistic patterns are boundless. The power of rich metaphors has been known to Man as one of the most important aspects of artistic creation. For example, the body can be viewed as the vessel of soul, architecture as the vessel of life, and the earth as the vessel of all creation.
Some artists consider their works vessels of ideas, emotions, experience, imaginations etc. Therefore, vessels are not just containers but also carriers of emotions, imaginations and thoughts. The expression of the works is as follows:

    (1) Imagining Nature
    (2) Stemming from Natural Matters
    (3) Constructing Abstract Designs
    (4) Conceptualizing Arrangements
